Here's what's new for the 2009-10 season:
In summer 2009, Mount Washington’s slopes received a significant haircut! What does that mean exactly? To put it simply, trail and brush crews roamed the entire frontside of the mountain (all 1200 acres) and cut down all of the brush and alpine shrubs on the mountain’s trails. This extensive summer grooming venture now allows more runs to open earlier in the season, which is great news for skiers and boarders.
Over the last couple of years, Mount Washington introduced popular new developments like the Goodtime Glades. These glades are perfectly spaced, groomed, and ideal for novice and intermediate tree skiers.
The Stomping Ground Terrain Park, Mount Washington’s park-grom playground, has also been a high priority on the mountain’s development list over the last four years. Over $150,000 in rails, flat, down-flat, multi-drop, and battleship boxes have been added to the litany of man-made stunts. The Stomping Ground has now become one of BC’s premier terrain parks.
With the 2010 Olympics right around the corner, Mount Washington has become the ideal pre-Olympic training site for a multitude of international teams. A total of ten countries, over 23 Nordic and Alpine teams combined, will descend upon the mountain starting in January 2010. This is an ideal time to see the world’s best athletes prepare for the upcoming Winter Games.
Finally, if you’re looking for great events, Mount Washington provides non-stop festival and competition action this winter. Highlights include the brand-new Kokanee Old School GS Race in January. This race features old school straight skis and the tightest and brightest racing outfits athletes can squeeze into! Our first ever Undie 500 race was a hit last April, and you can bet your "bottom" dollar that the Undie will make another "brief" appearance in 2010!
